Default Visa questions - we're worried

I recently posted and have to again post to make sure I was correct.

I'm a UK resident and am engaged to my fiance who lives in Oklahoma, USA.

I don't pay tax on my earnings in the UK as I work for my Uncles building
service.
I get paid by a cheque but get no payslips or tax deductions.

My fiance and I have yet to aply for the K1 visa but I am worried about my
tax situation.

Does the INS go into the alien fiance's tax records or recent employment
records?
I last work in September.October/ 2002, was in the USA from October to
January and then working for my Uncle from January to present.

Will this be a problem for our visa application?

Thank you and hope to hear what I want to hear soon

From what I've heard (so please don't take this as gospel) the INS couldn't
give a rat's ass about your finances - they're only interested in your
fiancee's initially - later on, you may have to prove you arent a liability,
but thats once you're there.

Thank you - that has lifted a load off my mind.

I'll know to get a proper paying job from between the interview and entering
the US under the K1 visa.

Anymore advise would be appreciated if anyone cares to add

Thanks and take care

Hi Tony,

We've never been asked a darn thing about Dave's previous employment history/earnings, etc. as far as the INS is concerned.

When we got our taxes done, our tax man did ask...because we filed married/joint and were married part of 2002, we had to declare Dave's UK income. So we did estimate how much he made in England and told them where he worked, etc. We didn't provide any documentation though as the IRS told us it wasn't required.

But as for the INS, they have never inquired.

Good luck!

Tony, if you are comfortable with what you're doing now (financially or otherwise) you don't need a different job between interview/US entry. It won't affect your visa or application in any way, AFAIK.

You might want to read up on some of the recent ideas for job hunting once you get *to* the US though.

Ohh, I was going to take my resume and go round the different companies in
the area with which I have experience and see if they would hire me on my
experience basis for early next year.
Bearing in mind it is a backwater town in NW Oklahoma there isn't much
there - always Walmart I suppose.

Where abouts may I find these ideas?
And thank you again for the help.

I only may change jobs if my Uncle cannot keep me in the hours. I'm only
with him now as he has a lot of work and needs the help.
Its mainly money and experience I'm after, but then again thats what work is
about anyway.

Thanks again and keep em' coming - its all helping us for the future.

Million thanks:

Hi Tony,

One of the threads concerning this topic is at:

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...%27t+get+hired

Everybody has different experiences of course, but you might get an idea of some of the obstacles some of us have experienced. Hopefully you will NOT experience them. Every person, place and situation is different.
