Visa procedures on trains to / from Canada
Hi All,
Can anyone briefly describe what the visa procedures are for people
travelling to / from Canada from the US via rail (e.g. New York <->
Montreal).
If one was in the US on a visa waiver, would the I94-W tab be removed
from your passport upon entry to Canada? What about re-entering the US?
Thanks in advance

It's the same procedure no matter what land vehicle you're in. When you depart the US you surrender the I-94W to the Canadians unless you will be coming back to the US. They won't take it unless you give it to them.
If you reenter the US then they can readmit you for the remainder of the 90 days counted from the date of arrival without giving credit for the time spent in Canada. They can do this even if you don't have the I-94W anymore. They could decide to grant a new 90 day period of admission, readmit for the remainder, or they could refuse your admission.
