Northwest-AL is an unknown quantity at this point
Default "Visa" number and "A" number

Hey Everybody,

I'm trying to complete the I-485 and one of the seemingly simple things they need is my current Visa number. Strangely I have come un-stuck at this point. My L1 visa page in my passport has lots of numbers but none are listed as "VISA" number! I have a control number, a "P#", and a number printed in red, also I have the usual super long alphanumeric string at the bottom of the page. Does anyone know the code?

I also have a question about the "A#" that lots of forms ask for but don't require. How would I know if I had an A#? I have had a J1 visa in the passed and currently have a L1, would I have picked up an A# along the way? or is it specific to AOS?

Thanks for reading.

Hello,
this is specific to AOS and you will get a A - number assigned when your AOS has been ackknowledged with a NOA from the USCIS.

Kind regards

Hi,

I asked exactly the same question the other day, for my K1 visa and I-485 application!!!

In the end I put both the control number and the solitary number in red that appears on my visa. Attaching a clear copy of your visa will also give the inormation one way or another, too!!

You can use the control number, that's what we used (from a K-1 visa). You are including a copy of the visa anyway, so USCIS can choose a different number from the copy if they need to.
