Urgent assistance with ESTA marriage and no name change on passport.
Hello.
I need some assistance. 2moro afternoon i will be helping a co worker with her esta she is away on honeymoon. She has just got married and has NOT YET changed her maiden name on her PASSPORT just on her bank account. The name on her ticket and her passport are both her MAIDEN NAME.
So for example lets say the name maiden name is Jane Smith and the married name is Jane Jones and the tickets and passport are in the name Jane Smith. What do we put in the on esta and what about the question if known by any other names?
Thanks in advance guys sorry about the capitals if that cause offence

So just to get it down in my own head. Taking the questions directly from the ESTA The correct answer to put in " Family Name" is Smith Jane and the correct answer to put in the question "Are you known by any other names or aliases" is Jones Jane? as her married name is now Jane Jones
Also she has changed her surname on her bank account will that make any difference?

I am sorry. I am making posts all over the place now. But again what do we put into the question about Aliases?. Do we put in the married name or we leave it blank. Her married name appears on nothing but her now joint bank account. Her passport is still in maiden name as is the ticket. I know I am overthinking this and it not even my responsibility but I wouldn't want to give wrong advice.

Thanks Ian. Should she bring her marriage certificate with her and even a bank statement with the new name on?

The ESTA isn't a big deal. No need to freak out about insignificant details. A simple explanation IF it ever came up would have been suffice at the border. They probably wouldn't even ask unless they started pulling credit cards out your wallet and noticed the difference in name.

Can't see any reason why she is traveling in her maiden name, and her passport, ticket and ESTA are all in that name.

Then you could have avoided any potential devastation by stepping back and advising her to do her own research. Problem solved all round.
