i sent off for mine dec 28th, received it feb 3rd.

does anyone know if these have to be presented within a certain time frame before they become invalid? i ordered mine when i was all full of optimism, and now it looks as if my interview at the london embassy won't be till the end of may. will they accept a police certificate from feb, or should i order another one to prove i haven't been convicted of anything heinous in the intervening three months?

thanks,

kate

My Police certificate took about 4 weeks to process, which seems about typical.

And Kate, I believe the certificates are valid for a year, you certainly shouldn't
have any problems with a certificate that's 3 months old anyway.

My certificate also took 4 weeks to come. 40 days, is the longest it can take, under
British Legislation.

Steven's took 25 days to get here. (applied Feb 12, rec'd Mar 9)

It may depend on where you apply from. I mean, there must be SOME reason why ours
came that quickly, compared to Shawn's! (see Beth "billypilgrim" post) I still
wouldn't say that "they are *still* taking 40 days" but that they legally have 40
days to do it in. (although a few of us have commented on the fact we wouldn't
*really* know how to proceed if the 40 days passed by...)

One thing, though, with everything that we've filed and applied for, if it seemed to
be a long while since we heard anything, we'd always call around and try to chase it
up -- which was usually successful. After applying, I'd suggest calling once a week
to see if they have any record of your request instead of just waiting the 40 days
and THEN starting the chasing. Works for us!

~Mandy of Steven(UK) & Mandy(USC) who are totally thrilled to have found out
yesterday that their Interview date is April 6th -- only 2 months after the INS
received the I-130!!!!
