Default travelling whilewaiting for N-400 processing

Hi all -

Been a while since I have been here. Hope everyone is doing well.

I applied for US Citizenship in April 2025. I have had a greencard since 2020. I have no legal issues but am concerned about travelling out of the US due to all I am watching and hearing through social media about folks getting stopped and questioned etc.
I am applying for Citizenship exactly for the reason that I dont want to have an issue getting back into the US if I need to go out.
This all may just be blown out of proportion so checking in with you on whether I should stay in the US or its fine to travel out?

Thanks

What state are you applying from? We applied in PA in December 2024 and had an interview in March and ceremony May 1st so not too long. If you are worried about flying on a GC can you wait a few months for your citizenship?

Thanks for the response.

I applied from AZ. I can wait to travel (its not urgent) but I have had no indication of how long it will take. If I knew it will take a couple of months then fine but if its another year then its going to be tough.

You should get a rough idea if you look up N400 timescales. Ours was quicker than estimated

Apparently its:

Processing time for Application for Naturalization (N-400) at Phoenix AZ

80% of cases are completed within 7.5 months.

So having applied in April, Im expecting I should have some update by no later than November 2025

Have you done biometrics yet? If so, then especially no issues re: travel as long as it is reasonable (e.g. duration, maintaining your U.S. life while abroad etc.).

I travel on GC between New York and Manchester every two weeks. Zero problems.
