Hi,
I am in the US on H1-B and recently sponsored my parents to come visit us on a Visitor
visa. With the documents which I sent them, they were able to get a 10 year multiple
entry visitor visa.
I heard recently that they would have to enter US atleast once within 2 months of the
Visa issuing date, or else their visa will be invalidated. I have not been able to
find any more information on this rule, especially since they will be coming on
Visitor visa (I have been able to get such information for work-based visas)
Could some one please clarify if this 2 month rule is indeed true, and if applies to
visitor visas as well ? If yes, what should be done once the two months are up ?
Thanks, and Regards, User.

No, it is not true.

The visa is valid, even for a first-time entry, until the date that is indicated as its
expiration date. Your parents could wait for 9 years and 364 days, and then enter the
U.S., and be given a six-month stay in B-2 status.
