Thank you British Expats for offering words of wisdom throughout this process! One year after we filed it, the I-485 associated with my EB1A green card was approved (a few months after the I-140 approval in January), and I've just had a text alert from USCIS saying it's been mailed to me. I imagine it'll start to feel real once I actually get it!

Throughout this process, I always stuck by the idea that emigrating to the US (outside of family connections etc) was "difficult but not impossible", and for me at least that seems to have been true.

Now to celebrate... if I can actually find any time off work

Unusually enough, exactly one year - 365 days. The i-140 approval came in January which was the biggest relief, after that it was just a matter of time. I got one RFE related to birth certificate, which USCIS moved on very quickly.
