Default Switching jobs

Hello,
Since graduating from college (3.5 years ago), I've been working as a
programmer at the IT department of a small fortune 500 retail company.
I'm on H1B. I've been offered a job with Oracle as an applications
consultant. My question is: shall I take this job given the following?
1- Working for Oracle vs working for a retailer for somebody with the
technical background I have.
2- Oracle is more financially capable than my current employer.
3- The job with Oracle requires 100% travel which is very inconvenient
for my wife and me.
4- My current employer is about to start the labor cert process for
sponsering my green card; however, I'm concerned about how easy this
can be because they cannot use my experience that I gained at the job.
Oracle on the other hand could use my experience to support my
application.
5- Oracle will not be applying for my green card right away. It will be

at least 6 months before they do.
6- Career development perspectives look great with Oracle.
7- I've already proved my self with my current employer, but I will
need to prove my self with Oracle.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It seems that this is a career decision and has nothing to do with
immigration law.

Also just a career decision.

Such a job could also conceivably cause headaches with H-1B. Not your
problem, but theirs, though.

Ask an attorney about your specific situation. Frankly, you just need to
meet the minimum requirements for whatever category you choose.

Do be aware of the quota, so if by switching to Oracle, you could move from
EB-3 to EB-2, you might get an advantage for Oracle.

That may be a very substantial factor. If the quota applies, it may mean
that your GC would be delayed by a year or more.

That point could be an issue; you might end up with nothing if Oracle for
some reason does not work out.

Personally, I would consider staying because you know what you have, and you
seem to like the job. However, right now, you could still choose either,
based on what is better for your career. Once you make that choice, you
would be pretty much stuck with that employer until you have the GC, or at
least for quite a while.
