Student Visa/Practical Training
-Post for a friend-
I applied for practical training (PT) after my graduation (was on
student visa). These days the PT approval is taking the service center
(NE) about 2-3 months. Here are my questions:
1) In the interim period (my graduation and PT approval), do I've
valid status?
2) When does the PT clock start ticking; after the approval or the
date when I submitted my application?
Thanks much!

If the I-765 application for optional practical training is filed in a
timely manner, that is, before graduation, the stay of the person in the
U.S. is authorized until the adjudication of the I-765.

What clock? If you are referring to the 12 month total time available in
F-1 OPT, it starts on the approval date (if the Designated Student Officer
used the correct type of endorsement on the I-20).
