Default Student Visa, Debts, Reentry

Hello.-

I studied in the US for about 5 years, during those years I acquire
debts thru my American Credit cards as many people does. Then I went
back home (Latin America) to get married and I still had my practical
training starting where I was planning to work for a year to pay all
my debts and leave the US. What happen is that when I got married my
wife did not get the student Visa companion, reason: I don't know, and
now I don't care, so I had to stay with my wife in my native country
and not use my practical training. Of course salaries are very
different and I could not pay my debts in the states, I tried to talk
to lawyers in the States to try to apply for Bankruptcy at distance,
and I guess is not possible because nobody answer back. It is being
about 2-3 years since then, and all those debts, I guess and believe
they still unpaid, and I don't have any idea of the status of those
situations. My questions are:

- The company where I work wants to send me there to see some expo or
something, can I go back to the states for a week or so?
- Does INS inspection process check unpaid debts?
- what could be the status of my situation? is that a crime? what
type? etc...

Thanks in advance

INS no longer exists, it's USCIS. You haven't, as far as I can see, committed any crime, but you owe money. Pay it, you deadbeat.
