still waiting for i-485 approval
This is the message from USCIS regarding my mom's I-485:
"On June 2005, we received your response to our request for evidence or
information. It is taking between 850 and 900 days for us to process
this kind of case."
The only thing we're waiting for is a letter for mom to make
appointment with
infopass.
My mom filed her I-485 at the same time as my dad and her receipt date
was april 2002. My dad has received his green card already in may
2005, but my mom's case is still pending.
My mom's processing center is in Texas. I faxed a letter to expedite
her
I-485 case, but there has not been anything done with her case. Anyone
know why there's a delay? Should I write a letter to the Texas Service
Center rather than fax?

Call your local Congressperson's office instead, but don't do it quite yet.
Discrepancies of several months between related cases are not uncommon. I
would give it until, say, Christmas before you really should get worried.

Retrogression?
The OP doesn't say on what basis the I-485 was filed. If she's an IR
parent then obviously retrogression would not be a factor . . . but
suppose mom is a derivative, then it's theoretically possible that dad
could be approved, then a retrogression takes place while mom is still
pending that would preclude her approval.
I think this scenario unlikely, but it's another reason why a call to a
member of Congress might not be in order until we're sure that there
isn't another explanation.
