Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this has been posted before. I couldn't find an answer in my
archives.

I am starting a job in June as an F1 student in OPT, but as soon as I start, the
procedure to adjust status to H1b will start. My question is, during the time that I
am on OPT, but not yet an H1b, do I have to pay social security taxes ?

Thanks for your answers,

Genti//

You pay social security but you don't pay medicare and I think federal taxes. I think
the INS' web site should have some info on that one.
