I have received my EAD and wants to apply for a Social security card.
I have a few quesitons? Any type of answers/comments will be appreciated.
Here is my situation:
I have a pending I-130/I-485 now.
Received my EAD today.
I was out of status when I applied for the I-130/I-485.
Questions:
Can I apply for SS# ?
Do I get the unrestricted SS card or the SS card with (valid of work with INS authorization ) ?
Am I a legal alien allowed to work ? ( is this the box I should tick while applying or do I tick tohe box "other" )
Please let me know if I can provide any more information. Also I do apologize in advance if I have offended anyone by asking these questions.

Just a note of clarification on the 2-week waiting period after submitting the SS application. That's true, unless for some reason they need to do a manual verification on you (either because of your nationality or because your name is not yet in the SAVE system).
My husband is Iranian, and because of his nationality had to go through a mandatory manual verification, which took 8 weeks. He got his card 2 weeks after that, for a total wait of 10 weeks for his SS card.
We were told if your nationality is Iranian, Iraqi, or Syrian, you'll be subject to the manual verification. Also, if your name is not yet in the SAVE system, you can opt not to apply at that time, but keep going in every few days to check whether your name is in the database yet, and apply then.
Best Wishes,
Rene

Hey Reneeeee,
It took 6 weeks for my name/details to be registered in their database, I'm not sure if that had to do with my port of entry and delays from there side (PHL International Airport). Be it as it may, mine took forever and a day!
