What happens when you sign a petition for alien relative who is your stepchild and
then your husband (its his son) says he is going to move 5 states away and take his
son with him?

I don't believe you have any obligation, legal or ethical, to carry through with a
stepchild immigrant visa petition, especially since the marriage is apparently over.
You can simply write to INS and withdraw the petition. You should include a copy of the
I-130 receipt notice so INS can match it up.
You might sit down with an immigration attorney to make sure this is done right. I am not
sure whether an I-485 is pending, or whether you executed an I-864 Affidavit of Support.
You should untangle yourself carefully from this.
And unless there is some danger from your husband, you should notify him of what you
have done.
