Speedy EAD
I mailed off Ian's AOS and EAD paperwork on 12 June. We got NOAs back on the 26th of
June, mailed the fingerprint fee on the 27th, and Ian got his EAD card yesterday (the
8th of July). Today he's off to apply for his social security number. I'll have
details about that after I get home tonight.
Finally... the boy can get a job!

Armed with his EAD card, passport, Maryland driver's license, birth certificate, and
the Social Security form, Kittiboi went to the downtown Baltimore Social Security
office around 9am this morning. It's 9:54 AM and he's just called. The woman only
wanted to see his passport (which didn't have an EAD stamp in it). He will have his
very own social security number in 7 to 10 business days (no more than 14 business
days). So easy. So smooth. The secret? Have everything done beforehand, be
over-prepared, and get there early.

You are SO lucky! Where are you posting from?
We filed AOS/EAD paperwork for my UK husband in February (Southern California) and he
went in for his fingerprinting sometime in March or April.
As of this date, still no EAD - or anything else for that matter.
We called the INS customer service line in May and they took his information and said
we'd hear something back through the mail within 30 days. Still nothing. I called
again last week and was told the next step is to go *in person* to the office where
we filed (about a 4 hour drive - one way - for us) to see about the EAD status. Sigh.
Hubby suggests we just continue to wait, patiently. Meanwhile, he's not
working...very frustrating...

We're in Maryland (all our paperwork had to be mailed off to Vermont). I don't know
what it is about the VSC, but I hope they keep it up (and can pass it on to the
other centers).
