Source Documents - Original or Copies?
Hi Everyone,
Probably a silly question, but do we need to submit original/certified copies of documents (i.e. birth certificates, police certificates, etc) requested by the NVC or will photocopies suffice? (at least until the interview when they can take the original docs. with them)
Would like to clarify because our attorney response was "most applicants provided photocopies, however, recently the trend has been for the NVC to issue a request for the original documents, which then get forwarded to the consulate by the NVC".
The state department website requests that originals should be sent.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

The originals are returned to the applicant at the interview.
If your lawyer has another way of doing it that works for them, that's fine, but the CYA answer is to do what DOS asks you to do.
