Social Security Card Question
Hi
I was fortunate enough to get through all the interviews & paperwork, moved to the US and have just received my "Green Card" today.
When I filled out the last bits of paperwork, I ticked the box saying that I wanted a Social Security card. My question is do I need to do anything else to get hold of one of these, or do I just sit and wait for the card to turn up one day? The forms didn't really make it very clear.
Thanks

If it has been +4 weeks since you arrived, and your Green Card has found you, you might want to find your local SSA office (ssa.gov) and take in your passport, green card and a completed form SS-5 (plus whatever other evidence the form lists).
The automatic program works most of the time, but sometimes not.
Welcome to America, by the way!

Re: Social Security Card Question
Thank you for the advice.
I'll pop into the local office on Monday and speak with them.

Re: Social Security Card Question
Doh...
I must get one of those diary books with the public holidays listed.. there seems to be a "holiday" for almost anything, although it seems only the govt workers get to enjoy such days as a holiday!
I'm looking forward to Krispy Kreme day
