Default Should I postpone interview till after 2nd wedding anniversary

Hello everyone, I filed my AOS/I130 last June in SLC, and I spoke to
someone at BCIS office, I should be getting an interview date in the
next coming months, probably sometime in the summer. My 2nd wedding
anniversary is in 1st week of Sep, and I'm a student so wont really
have use for greencard between summer months and september. I was
thinking if I get an interview in say July, to try to get it postponed
so that I can possibly get it later, just so I dont have to go thru
hassle of I-751. I dont mind waiting an extra couple of months, plus
the BCIS office in SLC is really nice, they answer their phones and
take questions and all.
I know several people on here have done so before. What do you all
think?

If you don't ask the people that make the decision, then you won't know
the answer as it applies to you.

Interviews are like gold, I would not give one up for convenience myself.

I know of someone who did that (at Arlington). They were told the interview
would be rescheduled. When they went in after six months to see what was up
they had marked him down as a no-show for the interview he had cancelled!
Then they screwed up sending a new interview notice out. Eventually after a
year (and an extra EAD) he got the new date and became a PR.

So, the question is, are you feeling lucky, punk?

Andy.

P.S. I chose not to do anything about it because Arlington had already
screwed up getting the interview notice to me. So I became a conditional PR
four weeks before my second anniversary. I figured it was better to be a PR
even if I had to file the I-751 than it was to worry about them screwing up
the paperwork again and perhaps denying the AOS application because of
administrative error.

Hi:

Lawyers tend to be professional pessimists -- so in that line I would suggest that you do not presume that you will not become a widow in the extra delay.

On occassion, I will draft a will and people get annoyed when I tell them the legal rule that a will "speaks as the date of death" and don't assume they will survive their children. Then I mention a situation where spouse and children are in the car with them when all are killed in an accident. It is a sobering thought, I will admit.

One of my spouse's dearest friends was run over by a city bus last September.

A widow can file an I-751. A widow can't have an I-130 approved on their behalf unless the marriage was two years old at the time of the US citizen's death.

My apologies, but you have to think of these things.

Yes, I wasn't morbid enough to mention it but that was another reason that I
didn't pursue pushing the interview back - though statistics were on my side
since there were only 27 days from the interview date to the 2nd anniversary
anyway!

Andy.

Good point guys, though this was a morbid thought
Well I'll keep that in mind. I just hope i dont get one for June/July
which seems to be the case. The lady said at the latest around Sep,
but she doubts if it'll be that long. I guess I'll just wait and see.
