Default Says L1, not L1A, in visa.

Hi,

I had my L1 visa interview yesterday, and today I got my passport back.

Now I applied for the L1A visa, and that is what was granted in the Notice of Action I got back from the USCIS. On the Notice of Action form it states "Class: L1A". This was the type of L1 my company and I were going for.

In my visa however under Visa Type/Class it says "L1", and not "L1A".

Is this normal? I would have thought that they would make the distinction between L1A and L1B on the actual visa in the passport.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thx!

I guess it's normal. I just looked up my old L-1B visa and it just says
"L1".

Raven,

That was a quick turnaround for the passport - where did you have your interview?

Belfast. Yeah, I had my interview that morning and my passport back by lunch the next day. Superb service all round.

I guess it saying just L1 is not an issue then... even thou it does not have
L1A annotated anywhere else to make that distinction???

It's irrelevant to the Immigration people in the US whether it is L1A or L1B.

Immigration are more concerned about whether you are entitled to work, L1 shows them that and expiration date on the Visa, not the specifics of whether you are here because you are an Executive or Specialized knowledge.

I'm here on an L1B and it just states L1 on my visa.

one note though, everytime I enter the US, the immigration guy always asks what my job is.. so if you have one that means nothing to anyone outside of the company like mine "Customer Operations Specialist", give an equivalent e.g. "Customer Services Rep". The accent can confuse them enough without making it more difficult for them working out what the heck you do .. You want them to be on your side, smile and keep it friendly

Hi - I'm on an L1A and it just says L1 on the visa - they will also write that every time they stamp you in. If you look at the paperwork that they stamp in the embassy - that will state L1A.

To be honest - it only matters if you are going to go for your Greencard - conditions for the L1A are broadly similar to the EB1c category. L1b you have to go through labour certification
