residence permit = residency requirement? DCF
Hello all,
I've had a similar question answered on this board before, but let me clarify something. I am going to marry my girlfriend in Germany and get my residency permit shortly there after (I am a US Citizen). Germany only allows DCF services through the consulate for residents of the Country, unlike many other countries who allow it for non residents.
If I have a residency permit in Germany, does this then qualify me for filing a DCF with the consulate? Or is there a certain amount of time I must live in Germany before I can do DCF, even with a residency permit?
If I must live in Germany for a certain amount of time, can I come back to the US for two weeks per month (app) to work, and still be considered a German resident to qualify for DCF?
Thankyou all so much,
Al

Re: residence permit = residency requirement? DCF
Hi Calikid,
When I called the Immigration Visa Section of the U.S.-Embassy, I was told
that the requirement for DCF is a copy of a residence permit. Here's the
number I called:
from Germany: 06975352240
From U.S.:011496975352240
They are very friendly. maybe you just call there.
In case you have to have the residence permit for a certain amount of time:
your residence permit will be issued for three years. during that time you
can leave the country for up to 6 month without loosing your residence
permit.
HTH,
Denise
