Report from the Grinch
Hi Cats,
Just popping in to tell you the latest. For those that don't know me, here
is a recap of my immigration experience so far.
Nov 99 Arrived in the US on vacation. For "10 Foot pole" fans. I had no
job in the UK, no Home in the UK and told the INS guy I was staying for a
bit to visit friends.
April 00 After some discussion in this group (thanks Gani) I decided to
marry and risk a visit top the INS to file.
June 00 Trip to Philly to File Forms. Received EAD on the spot.
Sept 00 After a long hunt got a job as a with Adelphia Communications.
Nov 00 Interview at Philly. About 30 minutes later emerged with a CPR
stamp. No mention of arriving on VWP.
Jan 01 Green Card arrived, Wrecked my car hitting a large Deer.
Oct 02 Filled for Removal of conditions. Green card extended for a year.
Feb 03 Received letter saying my application for PR was approved. The
same day I found out my wife was having an affair.
April 03 Wife moved out of Grinch Mansion to move in with her Boyfriend.
Tues 8 June - Made the 10 hour Round trip to Philly to tie up loose ends.
Arrived at the office at 7.00 am. Long Queue. Got a ticket #611. Got to
counter 4 at 9.30am, very nice lady. Stamped my passport, took fingerprint
and I signed the card. Was out at 9.45am.
Hopefully I am done with this shit now.
I probably will do the Citizen thing, but I have not decided yet.
I wanna thank Gani, Rete, Alvena, Platt and Udall.
I want to thank those that mailed me recently, you know who you are.

Yeah, I managed to pick up a hood and a front Grill from a scrap yard.
Replaced the Headlight, Power steering bottle and It ran ok for 6 months.
I got 1,500 trade in on it later so yeah it did a better job than the Ex!

I remember seeing you here when you first posted. I am about to start my AOS
after 4 years out of status, hopefully all goes smoothly for me. Glad to
hear everything worked out on the AOS for you, sorry about your marriage.
Best of luck in the future.

Hey Grinch
Read through your timeline and do you realize bad things happened to you when you got mail from the INS? Bet you are glad you won't be hearing from them for a long time.
We'll be passing your way again in July. Spending a week on Lake Seneca and hope this trip we can meet up for that drink.

Re: Report from the Grinch
Hello Grinch, Awfully sorry to hear the Grinchess has flown the coop Hey, good riddance, I'd say. Plenty of fish out there, so no need to worry.
Your very useful information on the "10 foot pole" has been duly noted and added to my folder. Thanks!!
Sorry about the car though. Thanks for the update Grinchy Pooh (as our mutual friend Lisa would say I hope she sees your update) I hope you'll chime in from time to time with further updates and input especially on the 10 foot pole front.
Good luck and God bless. Take care Grinchy ....

You did most of the important things prior to 911 though. I think things got longer and harder after that didn't they?

Married in April, interview in November, green card in January - seems rather quicker than now. After 911 all the application processes have slowed down considerably.

I'm sure they have, because of security checks. If you don't have a criminal record, it'll take longer. That's all...

Well that's what I said originally - it takes longer now and you disagreed but now you are agreeing with me!
