renewing EAD and AP in Cleveland
I will almost certainly have to renew my EAD and AP because the office where
I filed AOS is extremely behind. I'm just wondering how soon before each of
them expires do I need to file to renew and can I, having come in as a k1,
renew via e-filing? My district office is Cleveland, if that makes a
difference.
Thank you!

I wanted to warn you about e-filing. Many people who have done it have reported getting an RFE because the MSC claims they never received the supporting documents you're required to mail in. In both cases I read about the people had sent in the supporting evidence; it had just been lost. So I think it's best to just file the old fashioned way. Oh, and I haven't heard of it being any faster either.
I think they recommend filing 90 days before the current ones expire.
Good luck, and take care, Kirsten

Wow, thanks for all the heads up on this stuff. I really appreciate it! It's
definitely going to make me really think about when I want to file for this
stuff because if I finally get a job I love... I'm not going to want to have
to quit just over my EAD being either held up because of e-filing or because
I waited too long.
And they don't get upset if you're filing more than 90 days in advance?
Another thing too - the Cleveland office that I had to file my AOS through
doesn't issue 1st NOAs upon receipt. They just sent me a cashier's receipt
which shows that they've received my AOS application. Will that suffice for
a renewal since that's all they issue? (I've checked with them and that
really is all they issue!)

Just to clarify - according to the Cleveland office, EAD (first times and
renewals) must be filed by mail. Does that mean that I mail it to Cleveland
(like I did the first time) and they'll forward it on to the MSC?

Re: renewing EAD and AP in Cleveland
Hi Leanne
Remember me, I talked to you about Dirving license. Here is what I did for my AP. After I applied for AOS, EAD, at cleveland in Feb 2004. they sent me cashier receipt on about 10 Fef, 2004.
Now In April 2004, I applied for AP at cleveland. I sent the AP application and the copy of cashiers receipt by mail to cleveland office. In turn MSC sent me the NOA for AP application in May 2004. And I actually received my AP from MSC in July 2004.
Hope this Helps. Post us on how you filed your renewal EAD. I need to follow it sometime in future.
Regards
Dhabud
