Mr. Wernick's column in the "New York Daily News" last week spoke about the upcoming event which his department and pro bono attorneys were staffing to assist those who were taken in my this charlatan. I'm glad to see the word got out and people came for assistance.

I witnessed a hearing last week -- after years of effort, EOIR in Los Angeles has produced an English/Spanish "notario" warning which is always handed out at hearings and posted prominently throughout the courts.
There was one well known person in Orange County who was arrested, prosecuted, convicted and already served time. DHS is now charging the VICTIMS with fraud and refusing to consent to voluntary departure [with the 10 year overstay bar] even when the person WANTS to leave and has the ticket in hand.
Talk about mixed messages.
