Re-entry permit i-131
my wife and I have been in and out of the US over the last 2 years and for work reasons am going to apply for a re-entry permit because we are going to be out for over a year. The form asks you to tick whether you have been out for under 6 months, over 6 months etc etc..... Does this effect whether you receive the permit? We have only been in the US for a month a year in the last 2 years. ( but have entered every 6 months and filed taxes!) Any help is welcomed - thanks

I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but I do know that answering honestly on a USCIS form is the best way to go...otherwise it might come back to bite you in the butt

It likely will not affect you receiving the permit. However, it likely will affect whether some officer starts asking questions as a prelude to making a preliminary determination of your status with respect to abandonment. At any rate, work-related absences from the US are quite common... and you have been filing your tax returns, so that works in your favor. Be sure your absences/returns are well documented.
