Quick question.
Can I work in the US if someone is willing to sponsor my visa as a nanny? I am currently studying for my nvq 3 in early years childcare and my daughter is a US citizen, I was considering moving to the US for a while to do some nannying. It's just a passing thought and I wanted to know if it was possible, I know I can not go as an aupair as I am 29. Thank you.

Re: Quick question.
I'm guessing your daughter isn't over 21?

Re: Quick question.
No she is 7.

If you can't get the J-1 au pair, I don't think there are any realistic ways of getting a visa as a nanny. |
Re: Quick question.
Alright. No she lives with me in the UK, she is a duel citizen her father is American. I knew I couldn't go to the US based off her anyway she's only 7 and has to be 21 to sponsor me. I am just looking at another realistic way that I could go off my own back. I am pretty sure I am too old to go as an au pair.

Re: Quick question.
I have my reasons and I don't want to get into that on a public forum but thank you to those who answered my question.

Re: Quick question.
Why would I need a K-1? Thats assuming my reasons are for a guy. I am taking this thread no further. If I don't want to divulge my personal details on a public forum that is my prerogative.

...... That said, people here like information because that makes it easier to help steer someone in the right direction... so, when details are missing, there's usually a probing question or two. It's the nature of a public forum for people to ask probing questions. ....

Indeed. There are sometimes options the OP hadn't thought of if/when we learn more details about their circumstances.

Re: Quick question.
Just wondering but getting a job as a nanny when you have a child with special needs, is it that practical?

Re: Quick question.
It was the description you used in a prior post.
Perhaps. I am thinking this wrong but I visualise nanny's as being single live in. |
Re: Quick question.
I can't anyway I'm too old.
|
Re: Quick question.
Too old for a J1

Re: Quick question.
As an aupair I don't know what else I can do.

Yeah but K-1 isn't an option. I don't know what else about my circumstances I can really tell. I want to move to the US as I have a better support system than in the UK without going into that in too much detail because it would mean explaining my family's background.
If you were in discussions with an attorney they'd ask the same questions and charge you a lot for doing so. At least here it's free and the feedback, while not always diplomatic, is usually high quality. Good luck. |
Re: Quick question.
Won't the father's consent be needed to take the child out of the UK to the USA even though the child is USC?
|
Re: Quick question.
He lives in the US and I have sole custody. .

Re: Quick question.
About the only thing you can do is look at the article on here called Pulaski's Ways, look at the list of available visas, and see if you qualify for any of them. If not, you can only come as a visitor.

Unless you're willing to open up a little about your circumstances this thread has already dragged on about 26 posts more than your original question warranted. |
Re: Quick question.
There are other options, EB3 and H2b come to mind. But I agree talk to a Lawyer in the privacy of the consulting room.
