Default Question regarding travel to Canada

Hi all,

I'm a U.S. citizen. My wife and two step-daughters are Ukraine citizens who
entered the U.S. on K-1/K-2 visas. We recently adjusted status and my wife
received the I-551 stamp in her passport. My step-daughters are listed in my
wife's passport (they don't have a passport of their own as is customary in
Ukraine when the kids are under 18). My step-kids were issued temporary
"green cards" at the AOS interview. The permanent green cards have not yet
arrived.

We live in northern Michigan and have been considering a short trip to
Canada for vacation. As a U.S. citizen I'm not required to obtain a Canadian
TRV (temporary resident visa). However, I've come across some conflicting
information regarding the requirements for my wife and step-daughters.
Reading the TRV guide, it seems that Ukraine citizens must obtain a TRV
prior to entry into Canada UNLESS they are permanent U.S. residents "in
possession of a 'green card.'"

I may be splitting hairs, but is the I-551 stamp in my wife's passport and
temporary green cards issued to my step-daughters sufficient for entry into
Canada without a visa and for return to the U.S. a week later?

Any insight / experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

To quote the Consualte

"persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent
residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green
card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence."
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.html

An I-551 stamp is proof of Permanent Residence.
