What are the current regulations regarding a Canadian doing volunteer work in the US?

Note: I'm referring to pure volunteer work, no compensation, (No food, no loging,
no stip end)

My wife looked into this a 2-3 years back. The rules then (and they may have changed)
are that you can ONLY volunteer for a non-profit organization. In simple terms, you
can not attempt or appear to attempt to take a job away from someone else and there
can be no hint of under-the-table payments.

I'm not a lawyer. .../Ed
