Hmm.

I've never heard of "jarhead" being the equivalent of a "grunt." I always understood "grunt" to be those Army 11-bravos out in the field.

I spent the war at Ft Benning - a long-way back REMF.

REMF is good for your health. Although it was couple of years before my time, several of my older buddies had quickly gone from REMF to frontline urban infantry in January 1968.
