OP relates that her problem with the UK is specific to the UK and that she's lived successfully elsewhere.
Please let's keep it on the topic of the arrest/non arrest, police certificates and visa applications.

I suppose a standard piece of advice here is "don't incriminate yourself" by admitting to non-existent offences.

You mean by ticking "yes", the information on police certificate request form is automatically shared with us immigration or they mean they have the right to disclose it upon request from us immigration?? But if you give them a "no trace" police certificate, would they verify with the uk police, if so, why need police certificate anyway?? My friend got into similar trouble as well, confusing...... any insights highly appreciated
