Police Record in US Needed?
Hi, I noticed on the Ecuadorian Website that it states that my spouse to be
will need a copy of her police record for every country that she has lived
in for a year since she was 16 for her interview. My spouse to be has been
in the US since January (leaving in February 2203). Will she need to get a
copy of a police record from the US as well? How exactly do you get
something stating that you haven't committed any crimes in the US?
Thanks -Rich

I don't have the paper detailing this handy, but if I remember correctly,
the United States includes itself on the list of countries where you don't
obtain the police certificate personally - presumably because they can get
it themselves? I only remember this because I was initially surprised at
seeing the country listed.

Found it, http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_web...iv/pbcerts.htm
Yeah, I know it's the UK Embassy, but the same will still apply. I quote:
The following police certificates are obtained by the Embassy. We will
advise you further on receipt of the DS-230-I, or your file from the
National Visa Center:
Bermuda
Netherlands
Korea
New Zealand
Malawi
United States of America
I should note in passing that that website also states:
Do not attempt to obtain police certificates covering residence in any of
the following countries or areas as they are unavailable.
(blah blah) Ecuador (blah blah)
So given that you might want to double-check whether or not you have to
or are indeed able to obtain a police certificate for Ecuador.
