I believe they are good for up to one year.

It's a certificate from the NSO to show the person doesn't have any
marriages on record with the NSO. For some reason the embassy doesn't honor
that as proof as a person in the Philippines being single anymore. Now the
embassy will make the request to the NSO themselves. This a major reason
for visas being held up due to people being on Administrative Review. Takes
the NSO 6 to 8 weeks to do the check.

If it was me I would still request a couple copies and try to submit one
with the visa application documents. It was proof to back up one of the
complaints I reported to my Senator's visa liaison. The embassy will only
accept birth and marriage certificates from the NSO, so my
question/complaint was why wasn't the CENOMAR from the NSO proof that my
then fiancé was single and why make us wait another 6 to 8 weeks while the
embassy waits for the NSO to reply with something we already know. Not sure
if it made them go any faster, but the visa was issued a week after I went
to my Senator's office. Of course we were closing in on 4 month since the
application had been filed by that time.

Mike...thank you for all the help...I am still a little confused...where would my fiance get the Cenomar certificate...I understand it will prove that she was never married, but who does the searching to prove that? I will take your advise and get several copies of the Cenomar just in case...but I am still not sure where to get it and is it just like a certificate?

I would like to make clarification about CENOMAR, " certificate of no
marriage" your fiancee can obtain that at National statistic office (NSO).
Again for clarification, CENOMAR if your fiancee submit it with her
requirements, it is much easier for US consulate to send her visa on time
instead US consulate will ask for the CENOMAR that will take months and months.
This fall on administrative review. I talk to the the US consulate official
itself, she told me, if you give documents that support your requriements
wihtout them asking, you make there work easier.Good luck

Hi All!

My wife is from Cebu City and she requested all her NSO documents, i.e.
birth certificate on security paper, CERNOMAR through their help line. The
document cost more than going to Manila and ordering them, but you save the
trip to Manila and don't need to stand in line at the NSO. You might want
to a couple birth certificates.

Your fiancé can request the CERNOMAR over the phone from the NSO help
line. 737-1111
