Police Certificate - HONG KONG
Canadian citizen who lived in HK over 6mths, married US citizen - pending for K3
issuance. Anyone here has any experience with their police certificate issued from
HK? The HK Police Force issued the paper end of Feb and I received a photo copy in
the mail. Original was to be forwarded to the US Consulate in HK. According to HK
Police there is an agreement that all police certs. are to be forwarded to the HK
based Consulate before they get re-directed to their counterparts (in my case
Montreal). Called Montreal and they still haven't received the police cert. So there
is over a month delay! HKFP sent the cert. out by registered mail. If anyone has
encountered similar situation please advise. By the way, does one always need to
attend an interview to have K3 issued? Because in my packet #3 it said only at rare
instances an interview is required. I have already submitted all other docs.
necessary with US$45. We began filing K3 in Nov, 01 so it's been 5 months. Real eager
to be reunited with my spouse.....thx to those who have shared their experience,

1. registered mail is the slowest way to send mail, but one of the most secure. Every
person who handles the mail must sign his/her name. So it is totally trackable.
However, that makes it take longer. i would not panic quite yet.
2. You may not have to have an interview. Alvena
