Default Please help...Got I551 temp stamp, but date is wrong?

Great news is I just got my I551 temporary stamp and I was told my
green card will not have conditions (married over 2 years).

But my joy has turned to worry as I have just realised that they may of
made a mistake with the stamp date!?
The valid until date is yesterday 01/05/05 and I beleive it should read
01/05/06. The temp stamp is valid for one year right? and the date will
be exactly one year less a day? They goofed up right??

I geuss it doesnt matter unless I want to leave the country?

Or get my drivers?

How long will I have to wait to get the card anyway???
Thanks People

I got my greencard within 4 weeks of entering the country on a CR-1. Not sure that gives you any guidance as to how long you can expect to wait, antyhing up to 10 months I expect.

Looks like they forgot to change the year on the stamp's dial.

You card should come in the mail within the next month so if you aren't planning on traveling you can let it go for now.

Maybe they have stamps with changeable date dials at some offices, but I've never seen a stamp like that before. Instead, there is a blank line where they fill out the expiration date by hand.

I had this same thing happen in one of my cases as well. I took a look at the stamp before leaving the interview, and noticed they listed that days date for the expiration date (instead of a year into the future). Makes even more sense to me that it happened now, as I've caught myself writing 04 on something (not quite used to writing 05 yet… and as a side note, I'm dreading the arrival of 2006 as the 6 key is the hardest reach for me on my keyboard :-).

As part of my standard AOS interview prep session with my clients, I "always" tell them that story to help illustrate the point that they would be well advised to double check the expiration date on the stamp before leaving the interview (this is for interviews where I don't attend) as this sort of mistake can happen (although its really pretty rare when it does).

The OP should be able to take his PP back down to the office and have a new "corrected" stamp placed in it. He might need to make an InfoPass appointment though.

If it makes you feel any better, the 'valid to' date on my stamp is totally illegible. The immigration officer just pointed out it was valid for 1 year from the admitted date. I'm not expecting to have any problems.
