Default Please Help Aos Interview

Please Help !!

I quit my job in the UK on 15th June 2001, and booked tickets to the USA for the 23rd
June and to return on the 10th September 2001 (2½ Months) and travelled using the
Visa Waiver Program. Ihad the intent that when I returned to England to get a new
job and accomodation.

I was visiting my internet Girl Friend (Now my most wonderful wife)

When it was time for me to return to England we decided that I should stay longer and
that we should see what I needed to do to get married and stay in teh USA.

Well here I am still in the USA, Married with 2 step kids, and now time for my Aos
Interview, as nervous as anything.

What should I say if the INS ask if I had intent to stay in the USA, as I had no
job or abode.

What questions are we likely to get askedm is there a web site with common questions
that are asked?

How long does the interview take.

We have EMails and faxes, etc that we sent prior to me moving should we bring
these? we only have my wifes copies that I sent to her ! the rest are in the UK
does this matter?

Please guide me.

Infortunately I have asked this question and myself, did not get a reply.

So what I did is looked at the many links and information posted throughout the NG
and am praying for the best.

I do not know the answers ans I am at the same stage as you are.

Good luck

Question 1: What should you say about your intent? (I also adjusted from a tourist visa after three months).
Give the answer as you have explained it here. You wanted to visit for a longer period to see if the relationship was going to work out. You had only met on the internet! You do not need to mention leaving your job. If they know, or ask, by some miracle, explain that it was required for you to spend a longer period of time in the US and you were confident of getting another job when you returned.

Question 2: What questions are usually asked? Everyone gets asked the standard questions about links to communist party, prostitutino, arrests etc. Interviewers often ask a few social questions about your relationship - how did you meet? What was the wedding like? Have you met family? Answer truthfully. In our interview we were not asked ANY personal questions. Just the official ones. We provided lots of documents to show that we were legitimately married and living together.

Question 3: What documents to bring? There are many web sites detailing the lists of documents that help establish you are a valid marriage. Letters may be interesting, but they are about the time before you met. You really need evidence of your CURRENT relationship:

1) joint bank accounts or other joint finances (credit cards, bills)
2) utility bills in both names or seperate names to same address
3) drivers licence showing same address
4) health insurance with all family members on it
5) loans (mortgage, education, car)
6) correspondence to same address
7) statements from friends about your relationship (notarized)
8) photos of family together
9) marriage certificate! (divorces if relevant)

This is just a bit that I took. There are many other lists available on the AOS interview experiences site.

How long does the interview take.
Our interview took 20 minutes. Most of that time, the interviewer explained my obligations and Conditional permanent residency.

No questions were asked about my intent when i entered the US.

As Shannon as explained so fully in her two posts, you should not have a problem with the interview. Personally, I feel you are worrying over nothing. You didn't lie at the POE. Your marriage was spontaneous, etc. As long as you have the required proof that the marriage is viable and legitimate, then you have nothing to fear. Bring anything and everything that is required as outlined in Shannon's post and on the INS interview letter sent you. Make copies for them and bring the originals to show if requested.

Good luck

Default Interview done! WAS Re: Please Help Aos InterviewRe: Please Help Aos Interview

Well done and over with.

They asked me the questions about have I ever been areested etc, etc then asked for
my proff that we are legit. He didn't look at anything, just files it away and told
me that I will receive my approval within the next few days. He took my finger prints
and that was it.

No questions about our actualy marriage were asked and he didn't even look at any of
the pics I provided.

Was easy for us today!
