Hi everyone,

I have a few questions and great thanks for any advices:

1. My grandmother has been in hospital for over a month in my home country.
I really want to go to visit her. However, my status is pending for I-751.
It means my conditional residence expire on July 4th, 06. But I got a letter
from INS saying extended one year. I am not sure if the letter, expired
green card, and my passport is 100% OK for me to re-enter America?

2. Since my parents are all getting aged, I am the only child who can take
care of them. How can I bring my parents here through legal procedures? How
long will it take? Can I start to apply now or I must be a US citizen to do
it? If I can bring them over, how can I cover the medical expenses for them?

Thanks a billion.

The card expired, but not the status. The NOA extends the card for another year. You should be alright to travel.

You should be fine with those documents. Others have travelled that way successfully.

You must be a USC to file for your parents to come and live in the USA. See here. http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/parents.htm As for how long it takes once you file, a lot depends on what service center you use, where they are from, etc...but I'd say a year or two, most likely. As for covering medical expenses, that's a hard one...you'd have to get them insurance, which can be pretty pricey.

Best Wishes,
Rene
