You need them according to INS specifiations.

To see the specifications you can download a PDF file (requires the FREE acrobat
reader from adobe.com) via this link:

Thanks Maarten. I heard my UK fiancee needs 5 identical photos for her process. Is
that true? 3 for the medical and 2 for the interview...? Thanks in advance.

Here's what it says on the London website.

"Color Photographs - Fiancé(e)visa applicants are required to furnish three photographs; immigrant visa applicants four. These photographs must have a white background and must be glossy, unretouched, unmounted, and identical. The dimension of facial image should be about 1 inch from chin to the top of the hair; the subject should be shown in 3/4 frontal view showing the right side of face with the right ear clearly visible. No earrings should be worn. Follow this link for a list of photographers near the Embassy. "

Personally, I just used the same photos as for the petition.

Thanks

I needed 5 in Holland. 1 for the first application (not really important how face is
printed) and 4 further down the road for the visa application etc.

Just let her get a 6-sheet of photo's instead of the regular 4 to be sure. Also do
not let them cut the photo's, the consulate will cut them themselves. We had a bit of
a problem explaining the Dutch photoshop what it was that we exactly needed, but
since they have the digital system we could take as many as we wanted until they got
it right

I think this just depends on which visa you are interviewing for. For the K1 you have
to fill in a non-immigrant visa application (DS-156) which requires a different type
of photo. It is a frontal view, 37 mm x 37 mm, and I seem to recall that it was the
same type of photo that was used for the medical form?? So you could be right about
needing 5 copies of that type of photo. It was that same photo (not the ADIT of which
you have to provide 3) that was used on the K1 visa itself. Here is a link to the
DS-156 form: http://travel.state.gov/DS-0156.pdf Anyway, you will get very specific
instructions before the interview, from the consulate. Hope this helps Ranjini
