I am married to a US citizen and we have completed the I-130, I-765, I-485.

My fingerprints were taken in January but so far that's as far as the
processing has gone.

My question is regarding my passport. I am originally from the UK and my
passport expires in Jan 2005. Is it best to renew it now before the end of
my processing as I am worried if my current passport is stamped with
anything, then it will be useless next year.

I can send a form to the British Embassy here and apply for a new passport,
but I was also concerned that the passport number might change. I'm not sure
if they do or not.

So, is it best just to sit tight and apply when the passport expires in
January or renew it now before anything is stamped, attached, etc.
