Parents to immigrate - how long before they can visit back?
Hello All,
I am a naturalized US citizen and I applied for my parents to be
allowed to immigrate to the USA. The request was approved by the US
Consulate overseas and the have to enter the US before end of January.
Does anyone know how long do they have to be in the USA before they can
return to visit back home overseas? Someone told me that they cannot
leave the States for a year and I just want to confirm that.
Best,
Vasa

I don't think there is no time limit. If they have received their
immigrant visas and their passports are stamped with what is often
called the "I-551 stamp" on entry to the US they become permanent
residents immediately. They can travel as they wish. My wife entered the
US after obtaining her immigrant visa and then left 3 days later and did
not return to the US permanently for 3 months.
