overstay and then married in the US - what next?
I have a friend who came to the US on a tourist visa. She ended up marrying a permanent resident. She has overstayed her tourist visa about 2 years. Can you tell me what options she has? Can she fix her status so that she can be in the US legally? What papers does she need to file?

See a competent immigration lawyer for an IN-PERSON consultation. This is not the type of question I would discuss on a public newsgroup.

And, see the lawyer before anything is filed and before she leaves the
U.S. (and, I might add, before any trouble with the law).
