Default Out of our control - L1 Visa process

Hi All

My husbands company are now in the final stages of completing our paperwork for an L1 and L2 visa, it has been delayed by about 3 weeks but we hope to have the paperwork ready to sign next week.

What happens then and how quickly will we know the outcome and be able to arrange our embassy interview? They are paying for priority processing.

I know some of you have gone through this recently so i would be grateful if you could share your experiences.

We were hoping we would be moving by the end of nov but we are not sure if that is still feasible!!

Any advice most welcome.

Priority processing will get you some sort of response within 15 business days.

Premium processing means a guaranteed decision from the US immigration service with 15 calendar days of when they receive the company's filing. You do not sign this, so I don't know what signed paperwork of yours you might be referring to. Maybe it is just initial questionnaires, to provide the information needed to draft the forms that the company files.

Thank you , that is helpful. In that case I am not sure if the company has already filed their paper work or not!! I have so many questions but my husband is reluctant to keep asking his boss what is going on!!

I am sure we will be told as a when things happen!!

Once we get a decision after 15 days, if its an approval how quickly can we book an appointment at the embassy and been seen??

We really want to be there for christmas as the house we will be staying in initially has a heated pool and hot tub!! Perfect for Christmas morning!!

if your husband is reluctant to keep asking his boss - get him to ask for the lawyers details so you can go and ask them directly. Its importnat that you know where you are and whats going on.

Don't assume anything. Make a point of finding out for yourself. If hubby is reluctant to ask his boss, he should ask the attorney. Whatever you do, do *not* leave it to others to decide your future. Be proactive... not reactive.

It might happen... it might not. Don't count on anything until you have the visas in your passport.

You can book as soon as you know the petition has been approved.

It is also important to understand what stage they are at - things can be quicker if they have a blanket petition - also, what paperwork they are doing for you. You are likely to have to complete some forms too. May be worth checking those out now in case you have any questions, avoid the process being slowed down later?

Importantly - Contact the Lawyer directly. Every day if you have to until you fully understand which forms are which, what they mean, who has to do them and why. The boss being in the middle is a pain for everyone but you should be VERY proactive in making sure you know what is happening.

also - as the boss does not understand immigration nitty gritty - he could well make incorrect assumptions or make bad interpretation calls on what the forms ask for - possibly delaying the process as they might need to be corrected a lot before they can be sent in. Being able to ask the lawyer direct could save a LOT of back and forth.
