I know what you mean about Type A personalities! I'm a planner. My job only reinforces my planning idiosyncracies as I plan projects and meetings months, sometimes, years, in advance.

I also care for my elderly mother so that involves lots of planning and coordinating with doctor's visits, procedures, visitors when I travel, etc...

I'm so used to being the one in the "driver's seat" that it's maddening being at the mercy of the "unknown". That is why this forum is such a comfort. We're all in the same boat and can share our heartaches as well as our successes with a few helpful hints in between.
Thanks guys!
Patty
Oh my gosh, Patty, you and I could be twins! My job is just like yours, lots of planning and coordination, and I also care for elderly parents and do all the coordinating doctor's visits, etc. I have 3 planners I use, one for my personal stuff, one for work, and now one for my K1 visa process! LOL Talk about Type-A! I know exactly what you mean about the unknown, I always like to know what's going on, what the plan is, way ahead of the game...

This forum has been a huge help for me too, I have to say. Even though I have an attorney for my case, this group has shed light on a more personal level, and has raised some issues I had to rethink, and asked my attorney for clarification on a few items. Just knowing I'm not alone in all this is a big help, and everyone is so nice and friendly here....thanks again!

Default Can't say enough good...

Thanks, Noorah.

This forum has shed so much light on the process. While I'm still nervous (I won't be completely at ease until Abdo is here), this forum at least gives me the ability to find answers (or solace) where I thought there was none.

After this last visit "home" in March, I said to myself this is it!! So, wrote all the Senators/Congressman and rec'd no help, save one Senator's staff person who said I-130 would be approved any day now and not to waste the money on the K3! Considering it's taken the NSC about 4 months to move one week, I think that's doubtful. I confirmed this info on this site.

Then, when I was about to mail my K3 in I left out the 3 extra G235A forms thinking only "one completed for each" (I submitted 4 each for the I-130 so don't ask me why I suddenly thought only one would do) was the requirement. I happened to read a thread on G325As 15 minutes before the mail was picked up at our office and was able to rescue the envelope and put in the extra forms for each of us! Talk about kismet!!! WoW!

So, aside from making lots of new friends, this site is a lifesave at times!!!

Bye for now,
Patty Khadijah

Hi,

If the consulate has requested for security checks; you can call State
Department at 202-663-1225, 1 then 0 to get a status on the name
check; I've heard it may take up to 45 minutes to talk to some one.

Regards,
Keivan

Thank you Keivan, That number will certainly come in handy for lots of us! I'll keep it until my turn comes. I don't mind waiting 45 minutes to talk to someone as long as I can get an update on the status. Thanks again.

Here is the latest on my case. NVC now says they have sent my case to
the Consulate three weeks ago. They kept telling me as late as last
Friday that they are still waiting for my security checks! I called
them several times yesterday to make sure I get the same answer; they
said it's been forwarded. I have not received any letter from them
saying it's been forwarded and I have been unable to contact the
consulate to verify its receipt.

I remember the time when I was so anxious to find out what happened to the
case as NVC told me on the phone that they had already forwarded it to the
consulate.
I even attempt to open a provisional file. However, the procedure works as
they advertise on their website. It was just the time. Now, I know that it
takes a little time for them to do something.
