Question north korea stamp on passport ruin chances for US?

Im thinking of doing a tour of North Korea. I am wondering if having a NK visa/stamp will look bad if I apply for a US work visa at a later date?

I presume not since US tourists are allowed visit NK but I just want to make sure.

Join the Military, you may get an all inclusive package deal to North Korea.

Your use of the phrase "US tourists" is curious, since it implies "US citizen"... else one would be a tourist from some other country. USCs don't usually have a problem returning to their home. You, however, are not a US tourist... so your tour in NK might be seen as a negative! Or it might not... give it a go and see what happens.

They might require you to obtain a psychiatric evaluation.

I can't say whether you'll be denied a work permit based on your visit, but you will most certainly get grilled at the border regarding your NK trip (whether you're a tourist or on a work visa) so be prepared for that. I've known people to be grilled about a Pakistani entry stamp, so a much rarer NK stamp will be sure to draw attention.

Hmmmm.

I guess I could get a new passport though right, if I was getting a US work visa later?

really? I assumed the issue would be the stamp on my passport (which would not be on the new passport)?

Merely visiting there would not make someone ineligible for an immigration benefit under US law.

My husband had visited Cuba and had no problems getting a work visa. They didn't ask about his visit.

One of the forms you complete before your interview at the embassy asks which countries you've visited.

I don't know if it will be an issue or not. But if it is, it's not because of your passport. It would be because you physically went there, no matter what passport you hold (old or new).

Unless you were in and out like a fiddlers elbow I wouldnt worry about it. I just got my greencard and submitted all my old passports which had Cuban and numberous china entries.

Neither China nor Cuba want to start World War III. North Korea though... not so sure!

China is not an issue for America or Americans.

Some countries put visas and entry stamps on separate paper from the passport, enquire what N.K. do. Getting a new passport will remove the stamps but not the requirement to report it on visa/immigration forms.

If US citizens can go I think one short entry by a non-citizen will not be a problem in isolation; given that people here (including sanfranjones quoted above) report that a Cuban stamp is not an issue.
