Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Hello again.

I have now waited 22 weeks for a decision, having originally been told that potentially I may need a waiver as the officer I interviewed with was uncertain whether my conviction fell under CIMT.

I called the new helpline as was told as I'm a legacy applicant they have no information, and I've checked the new online status checker and it says administrative processing, as it has done since my initial interview back in March.

Does anyone know if I have any hope of contacting anyone for any kind of status update? I assume that they did in fact decide I needed an ineligibility waiver and that is what's going on (the officer wrote potential on the form that he gave me), but I haven't had any confirmation of that. The form said it could take 22 weeks, have I any option to find out? Or an email address or anything where I can get any update at all? Also, does everyone who is applying for a waiver have their status go to administrative processing?

Thanks and I'm sorry for the long winded message.

No. There is no way to find out why you are in AP; there is no way to find out how far along in the process you are; and there is no way to find out how much longer it's going to take. There is absolutely nothing you can do... except wait.

Thank you.....I understand they have their priorities and that my concerns are not their problems, but it's a hard waiting game. Thank you for replying :)

You could try this http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/visa_contact_form.html. Not sure just how much help it will be but give it a try and see. Report back on the result so we know for future problems.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

Hi, I am desperately looking for help from someone, anyone!

I applied for my visa wavier on the 22nd January, when at the end of July I still hadn't heard anything I was a bit concerned seeing that those with Feb/March interviews were receiving their Visa's
I managed to contact an administrator in Washington who informed me that there had been a request for my passport on the 6th of June, and that I'd been granted a 12 month visa, they couldn't tell me more, just that was what the computer showed in front of them

On contacting the London embassy again, I was given a form to fill in as apparently they changed computer systems on the 26th of July and as my visa was issued before I am now a 'tradition applicant'
I filled in the form, waited the 7 working days, still nothing, so I get given an email address, waited the 3-5 working days for a reply which included a UK and US bank holiday so it was 7 working days- still nothing, so I phoned the embassy again, who said they cannot do anything except give me this email address, they 'team' I am with (dealing with transition applicants) has no contact number, just this email which I get no acknowledgement from.

I banging my head against a brick wall, my entire family leave for the USA in less than 3 weeks now, and I know I have been given a visa, but can't get it!!

Does anyone have any numbers email addresses I can try? Desperate now!

Even the email address from which your own visa was issued (the one to contact the courier) would be a fantastic help

Thank you :fingerscrossed:

Have you actually sent them your passport? You'll never get the visa if they don't have your passport.

You can contact them online if you want. Someone posted the link a few days ago.

Desperate now!
Not good... when you're desperate, you'll make poor decisions.

How can I send them my passport? To where? I never received the email from them requesting my passport, though Washington DHS say that it should have been requested at the beginning of June.

Tried this, no replies. I can only use a specific email address as my 'visa' was issued before the new website/system. I am on the old system not he new system

You spoke to someone, didn't you? Did you not ask them for a duplicate copy of the letter? Your case will remain open for up to a year... call them, find out where to send your passport.

Be aware that visas are issued by the Department of State - not by the Department of Homeland Security. I'd be surprised if DHS actually had any information on your visa!

Well then, you seem to be wasting a lot of time emailing and calling, and trying to live inside the box. Have you considered going to the US Consular Service in London and speaking to someone in person. Take your passport with you! Make an appointment and go!

Please don't reply in red... many people suffer from red/green color blindness. Just reply... we'll figure out what you're trying to say.

With respect, I think you're going around in circles because you are so focused on email and phone calls to solve your problem, that you're dismissing the alternatives. I suggest this is because you are so used to getting instant information, you can't conceive of any other methods. You have already received several good suggestions!
