Non-migrant Visa B1/2 or VWP/ESTA?
Hi,
I'm new here so apologies for any mistakes.
I'm thinking of travelling to the USA later this year and was looking at the VWP. I noticed that I'd qualify normally but they've added this restriction:
I unfortunately fall into this category of persons. I'm taking this to assume that if I've been to any of these countries, I can no longer travel under the VWP. Is this correct?
If yes, do I still need to apply for an ESTA first?
Or shall I just go ahead and apply for a US B1/2 tourism visa?
Has anyone else been in a similar position where they are ineligible based off these guide lines?
If anyone could please advise me on this it'd be hugely helpful!

Under the Act, travelers in the following categories are no longer eligible to travel or be admitted to the United States, without a waiver, under the VWP:
- Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Iraq, North Korea, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, or Yemen at any time on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions); and
- Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of Iraq, Syria, Iran, North Korea or Sudan.
