Hi,

I am working in the US on a H1B visa.

I might get layed off in a weeks time. The company will be cancelling my Visa. I
understand that I have 10 days time to get a new job and also my visa transfer
application needs to be filed within the 10 days after my termination as per INS.

I have offers from two companies - A and B, out of which I want to join company A.
The problem is the company might not file my visa transfer application in time
(within 10 days) as there transfer process is slow.

Company B is ready to file the application within 10 days.

The question I have is

1. Can I go ahead and start the transfer process for company B in order to stay in
valid status and also ask company A to transfer so that I can join company A
later legally.

2. If I only ask company A to transfer my Visa with the risk that the transfer may
take 1 month and hence I may be actually staying illegally. Also is it OK to file
for a Visa transfer when the company is filing after my Visa is Cancelled?

Thanks

Shantanu
