Question Need advice, travel as new Permanent Resident....

Hi everyone,

My husband got his permanent residence last April and he is going back to his birth country next week (Only for 2 weeks). We are wondering how is going to be now at the JFK airport. Which line he will have to go through when going and then coming back?

Any idea?? All advice welcome

Thanks as always

I would imagine he would re enter using the lane for US Citizens & green card holders.

Didnt think there was a different lane for leaving the country, Ive only ever exited from LAX & everyone goes the same way there as has been would the practise at all international airports around the world that I have been through.

There's currently no exit immigration control on leaving the US (except for those liable to US-VISIT). If you have an I94 or I94W you need to return it but this is not a concern for green card holders.

Coming back, most ports of entry do to allow GC holders into the US citizens line, others do not.
