Here's a very good discussion forum I found. Helped us out a lot while
we were filing our N-400 this summer. It gives you an idea how others
fared, and especially a good idea of the timelines involved as they
vary wildly depending where you live and how sofisticated your local
INS/USCIS office is equipped and staffed.

By the way, it took me almost 20 years of procrastination until my
wife finally made me bite the bullet and file the forms already.
Unlike taxes there is no April 15 due date for the N-400, so I kept
putting it off. Especially the section where I had to list all my
travel dates and places (I used to travel extensively all over the
world for work in the early years, and trying to put that all together
took me a few weeks)
Also by the way, Citizenship has a tremendous advantage for your
inheritance taxation situation. Most don't realize that and think the
"only" advantage is that you can vote. There's much more to it then
that. Uncle Sam puts a very, very hefty estate tax on non citizen
residents in case they "buy the farm".
