Default Name wrong on Green Card

Hey there, a firend of mine was just issued a US Green card that he had been desperately needing to get his social security number (his employers were in a position to terminate him unless he had gotten it.
The name on his green card papers is wrong and he isn't able to get his SC number with the incorrect name! I'm not sure if the name on his green card is incorrect, but I took him to the SS office, and they said they were unable to do anything for him because they put the name Anthony instead of Antony.

Is there anybody who can help let me know what he needs to do in this situation as his employers have been forced to terminate him until he gets his SC number!

Thanks in advance.

How is your friend working? Does he have an employment authorization document from the CIS? If yes, then that was all he needed at the very start to get a social security card.

Have your friend go back to the CIS district office with his passport and the wrong card. They have to complete a new I-90 to make a new card. In the interim he can get the I-551 stamp in his passport and that will be enough to get his social security card.

Wondering why you friend didn't know that he was eligible for a social security while he was waiting for adjustment if he had the right to work?

This of course assumes that it is CIS error not applicant error. If
it's a typo on the I-485, there may be additional complications.
