Default N400-What Comes Next??

My wife has been waiting for her permanent Green Card to be processed(in
Texas) for the
past 2 and 1/2 years. Last Summer(2004) we went ahead and filed the N400
naturalization
form when she became eligible. We received a notification within a week,
and six weeks
after that she went to be fingerprinted.

She now has a notification to appear in early August for an appointment at
our local Immigration
office----for her naturalization interview and her citizenship test. I
expect everything to go well,
but what comes after that?? I would really like to start seeing that light
at the end of the tunnel.

At her interview, she will find out whether or not she has passed. You will not be allowed into the room with her. Once she passes, she'll receive a notice indicating when her oath ceremony will be. At the ceremony, she will surrender her green card and will receive a certificate of naturalization. And *that* is the end of the tunnel. She should then notify SSA that her status has changed, and she should apply for a passport. Don't forget that she should also register to vote! Good luck to you both.
